Little Angels - 2-year-old Nursery School Class
Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.
Two-year-old children are active, so we plan movement; noisy, so we talk and work actively; shy, so we talk with one child; egocentric, so we know they are interested in themselves; tender, so we let them know they are loved; beginners, so they learn through their mistakes; curious, so we let them explore; and different, so we recognize that each child has his own timetable and learns at different levels.
Incorporating all of the room's aspects without play would be meaningless to a young child. Play is the work of young children. It is through play that they learn the skills for success in later life: Problem solving, role identification, communication, social skills, and decision-making ability. Play allows for the natural process of learning by doing.
What begins in September as grabbing a car, in December becomes "Mine!", and finally emerges in May as "That car is mine." Our Little Angels experience tremendous social, intellectual, physical, and emotional growth throughout the year. In our preschool class we strive to create an environment where the children and teachers can interact in a positive and loving manner throughout each day.
Each week's unit is planned based on the needs of the children and their world at large. We discuss our colors, seasons, and stories. We sing, dance, play games, talk about our families, and many more topics through the year. We have great fun at the craft table, especially since this is probably their first experience at painting, gluing, finger painting, and stringing cereal necklaces. Our play-dough table is always one of the favorite centers.
Children must be 2 by September 1st.
